Please join the ARMA Madison Chapter as we revisit the timeless blockbuster Buried Alive, a short film which illustrates legal, financial and operational consequences when document retention practice fails to match retention policy. Drawing on an all too realistic scenario of a legal hold, this film explores the impacts of “just in case” records retention and where good intentions can go terribly wrong. When retention and disposition policies are not systematically applied, the consequences of thousands of individual decisions on managing the organization’s information can be costly and surprising – especially to company lawyers!
After the showing, Attorney Carrie Cox will share some personal perspectives and kick-off a discussion and Q&A session. We look forward to a lively exchange on how the more things have changed in our dynamic digital world, the more the principles of good recordkeeping and information governance have remained the same.
This session has something for everyone – new and experienced information management practitioners as well as employees and leadership so spread the word and join us for an informative and entertaining, but yet so real, blast from the past.
